Heritage Project Update

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed the locations of the 3 museum orchards that we are planting as part of the Heritage of Orchards and Cider Making in Wales project.

The locations have been chosen for the potential longevity of care of the orchard, access by the public and interested parties, suitable situation and site and for enhancement of biodiversity.

They are:

  • The National Botanical Garden of Wales - Carmarthen
  • Neath Port Talbot College Group - Newtown Campus
  • Erddig Hall - National Trust property - Wrexham

Trees are currently being propagated for these orchards with plans being made to plant the trees during the winter of 2017-18. These museum orchards will contribute to a more securing future for these fruit varieties and educate visitors and students in the heritage of cider and perry making in Wales.
